Now that home workouts have become THE trend online, I also re-started my fitness journey recently and it’s been bittersweet. Wish there was a feel to enjoy the #postworkoutglow without having to workout. Dream, much?

Is it just me or the sweet craving after a good routine is uncontrollable? I always suppress it with sweet tangerine juice or apples. But recently, I came across sugar-free dates energy balls (ladoos) that I decided to try and share it on this week’s Monday’s with Madhu.

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 c crushed almonds, crushed pistachios
  • 1 c seedless dates
  • 1 tsp cardamom/cinnamon powder for flavour
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Method:

  1. In a heavy bottomed pan, add 1 tbsp olive oil. To it add crushed almonds and pistachios. Saute them on medium to low flame until they turn slightly brown and crunchy. This will take about 5 minutes.
  2. Blitz the seedless dates into a coarse paste (without adding water) in your blender.
  3. Add the dates to the roasted nuts and start with smashing the dates paste into the mix.
  4. Switch off once you see a dough ball forming with dates releasing the oil. Add the cardamom/cinnamon at this stage and mix.
  5. Wait for the mix to cool down for 5 minutes and immediately grease your hands with olive oil & roll them into balls. If you wait any longer, the mixture would be harden and it would be difficult to mould them.

It was my first time making them and I couldn’t believe how simple yet delicious snack it turned out to be!

What’s your post-workout snack?
